In November of 2020, Metro awarded the Oak Lodge Governance Project a $100,000 grant to fund Phase 1 of a research study focused on economic realities and projections, as well as various forms of possible self-governance for the communities of Oak Grove and Jennings Lodge.
The grant was written in response to three major issues:
- recognizing changes in the demographics, economics and circumstances of our community
- foreseeing changes coming to the area due to current and pending legislation concerning housing, zoning and density, and
- responding to the historic, systemic, inequalities of the structures we live within.
The research study is expected to be completed by August of 2021, and while the entire grant is dedicated to this phase of research, subsequent studies may be required to fully analyze the complexity of the project. All subsequent public engagement and community outreach will be done by the volunteer members of OLGP.
